Homebrew-radios.net - database

The MYSQL database is on the homebrew-radios.net web hosting.
The current function is to provide a record of everyone's project details.
There are two databases - a registration database and a project database.
The registration database is separate for security reasons.

In order to upload your project details you need to register via: www.homebrew-radios.net/database/database_login.php

Security policy is as follows:

• email is kept in the reg. database and is private.
• Login name (username) is visible in the project browser.
• name and callsign are visible in the browser if you check the option boxes for this.

(Note: there is no point in withholding your callsign if you use it as part of your Login !! )

Hobcat's browser uses a read-only link to the project database.
(Connection details are built into the Hobcat code)

There is a short (fixed) password needed to access the browser in Hobcat.
This is available in DBpassword.txt in the files section of the Picastar-users and Homebrew-radios yahoo groups.

Hobcat project browser - to be released in version 1.052

This is accessed from Hobcat's main menu.
It connects direct to the remote database by means of MYDAC direct access components in the Delphi source code.

Notes:

• The browser is read-only.
• The selected project has a slightly darker background.
• The print button provides for printing of the selected project.
• If the selected project record includes a website URL, then it's URL appears at the top of the window (can be accessed).

Grouping:
The following three screen images demonstrate the grouping facility.
Grouping is available only for the drop-down-list fields (eg: controller, encoder etc)
With the mouse, you simply drag the column header into the group panel at the top.

The groups are collapsed by default. Click the + button to expand a group and view its projects.

Printing a project record

The print button builds a project description in to a rich-text editor (just like MS Wordpad)
You can edit the text.
On printing, the presentation resizes to fit A4 page width (with corresponding word-wrapping alterations)
(You can change this and other printing parameters by using the print setup button)
